Crank Up That Energy And Lose That Weight

It is ALREADY March on Saturday, so it is time to kick that body into high gear, jump start your weight loss and crank up that energy! Here are some tips on how:

Increase your protein intake. Fish is the best (not fried of course), lean chicken (again not fried), Eggs or even better Egg Beaters (you miss all the cholesterol by eating egg beaters instead of eggs). Some more protein rich foods are: soy milk, cheese (but can be high in fat so check the fat content), yogurt, peanut butter (can be high in fat so eat in moderation), tofu, lentils, and other legumes, grains; including bread and pasta, nuts and seeds.

Increase your fiber intake. Switching your bread to stone ground wheat bread is one way to increase your fiber intake without sacrificing taste. More fiber rich foods are: Rye bread, broccoli, green beans, spinach, beet greens, brussel sprouts, kale, collard, turnip greens, almonds, walnuts, Brazilian nuts, and peanuts. Fiber rich fruits are: blueberries, strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, cherries, and apples WITH the skin.

Drink more water…drink water when you first get up for ultimate energy. Then drink water again 30 minutes before a meal (this will cause you to eat less too).

Eat foods that have a high water content. Other great ways to incorporate more water into your diet is by eating water containing foods such as: grapes, soups (pick the low in sodium, broth based soups), cucumbers, watermelon, zucchini, tomatoes, egg plant, peaches, and sorbets.

Eat “better” fruits. Blueberries won’t just give you a boost but research has shown they actually improve concentration, as do raspberries, strawberries, blackberries, cherries, and apples with skin, and they are ALL good source of fiber 😉 Also grab for watermelon, grapes, and peaches as they are high in water and will help replenish your energy!
