Holiday Ham Glaze

Easter is right around the corner and it is time for you get your ham recipes out start cooking. So spice your easter ham this year with a great tasteful tomato and onion glaze. This glaze is super easy to make and with only 5 ingredients and taking 15 minutes to prepare, it will be sure to satisfy your taste buds and your holiday cooking schedule.
Tomato and Onion Glaze
- 1 tablespoon butter or margarine
- 2 tablespoon finely chopped onion
- 8 ounce can tomato sauce
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
Start to finish time: 15 minutes
Makes about 1 cup of glaze
This glaze of tomato sauce and sauteed chopped onion is less sweet alternative to traditional fruit or sugar based recipes. Since a glaze only coats the outside of the ham, you might want to double the recipe to serve as you would a gravy.
In a small saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter or margarine. Add the chopped onion and cook until tender, about 5 minutes. Stir in tomato sauce, brown sugar and Worcestershire sauce, then bring to a boil.
Reduce heat and simmer until glaze thickens, about 5 minutes. Use the sauce to glaze the ham, basting as desired. ENJOY!
